Description
What a past I’ve had
No longer to have a future but what a past I’ve had,
Sharing my life with those of you here who I know must be feeling so sad
So would I, had I been you, but alas it’s me we are here to mourn
And indeed, to celebrate the years of my life to my passing from the day I was born
To those of you close to me, our journey has been as one
And whilst I understand how hard it will be, you really need to move on

Time is such a good healer and yes, things will be tough to startBut I know you’ll l have your memories to help you now we’re apart.
We cared and shared, were companions, confidents like sisters and brothers
And hopefully in our daily lives we were kind and considerate to others
My passing is my passing; my body has had its day
Farewell to all within these walls, from me from where here I lay
It’s time to wrap up my message and soon bring this event to an end
My love, my affection, my fondness of you; to family and friends I do send.
About the Author
Keith Stokes-Smith was brought up in Solihull, moving to Worcestershire in 1997. Writing poems came easy to him in his twenties and early thirties.
In 2016, his mother passed away. Two weeks later, on a train journey to London, he belatedly wrote a bespoke poem for her funeral and wrote it as if she had composed it to be read out by her at her funeral; a strange concept you might think. From then on he found himself uncontrollably inspired to write more adopting words spoken by fictitious people of fictitious ages in fictitious circumstances. In essence, he has tried to be in the mind of the reader. His poems may be considered somewhat unique coupled very often with them having a sense of humour.
