My name will now be lost in time

Description

My name will now be lost in time

My grandparents and parents have alas gone on their way
Inevitably, it had to be my turn. Before you here I lay

It’s been an interesting journey, with challenges here and there
Some of which made life difficult and some of which I was pleased to share

I feel that I have striven, I feel that I have served
I feel that I have succeeded though whether or not deserved

My name will now be lost in time as befall but just the few
I was so so pleased to be part of your life and hope it was the same for you
We’ve shared some magic moments with memories to recall
But now it’s time to close the book, once and for all
To my treasured most loved offspring, my thoughts go out to you
Enjoy your lives, move on from me, and to each other, please be true.

About the Author

Keith Stokes-Smith was brought up in Solihull, moving to Worcestershire in 1997. Writing poems came easy to him in his twenties and early thirties.

In 2016, his mother passed away. Two weeks later, on a train journey to London, he belatedly wrote a bespoke poem for her funeral and wrote it as if she had composed it to be read out by her at her funeral; a strange concept you might think. From then on he found himself uncontrollably inspired to write more adopting words spoken by fictitious people of fictitious ages in fictitious circumstances. In essence, he has tried to be in the mind of the reader. His poems may be considered somewhat unique coupled very often with them having a sense of humour.
