Description
It had to happen sometime
It had to happen sometime and for me it’s happened now
I’ve taken my final curtain; I’ve taken my final bow.
It’s been an interesting journey which some of you have shared
As did those in my life since departed; for all of you I cared.
It’s good of you to be here, in front of you I lay
As sad as you and I must be, there’s a few words I need to say.
We’ve been each other’s life time friends; we’ve been together in good times and bad
We’ve enjoyed each other’s company, for these things we must be glad.

We’ve entertained each other, laughed and cried in joyWe’ve accumulated so many memories to recall and not destroy.
My life has been a good one with much to shout about
I’ve no complaints, and it’s too late if I have, of that there is no doubt.
Enjoy your onward journey, enjoy your days ahead
And if you’re feeling somewhat down and out, remember, you could be me instead.
About the Author
Keith Stokes-Smith was brought up in Solihull, moving to Worcestershire in 1997. Writing poems came easy to him in his twenties and early thirties.
In 2016, his mother passed away. Two weeks later, on a train journey to London, he belatedly wrote a bespoke poem for her funeral and wrote it as if she had composed it to be read out by her at her funeral; a strange concept you might think. From then on he found himself uncontrollably inspired to write more adopting words spoken by fictitious people of fictitious ages in fictitious circumstances. In essence, he has tried to be in the mind of the reader. His poems may be considered somewhat unique coupled very often with them having a sense of humour.
